representatives of civic, educational and professional

organizations concerned with or engaged in the production or

presentation of the performing, visual or creative arts and shall
provide balanced geographic representation.

(d)  Members of the Maryland State Arts Council shall serve
without compensation, but each member shall be reimbursed for his
necessary traveling and other expenses incurred in the
performance of his official duties in accordance with the
Standard Travel Regulations.

(e)  The Council shall select annually from its membership a
chairman, a vice-chairman and a secretary-treasurer.

[15-105.] 6-505.

Meetings of the Council shall be called by the chairman or
the Secretary [of Economic and Community Development]. The
Council shall meet at least [four] 4 times annually.

[15-106.] 6-506.

(a) The Council shall have the power and authority
necessary to carry out the duties imposed upon it by this
subtitle and subject to the approval of the Secretary [of
Economic and Community Development], including but not limited to
the following:

(1)  Continuing all programs and activities and
assuming all assets, liabilities, contracts, leases and other
such obligations of the body formerly known as the Governor's
Council on the Arts in Maryland.

(2)  Adopting reasonable rules and regulations to
effectuate the provisions of this subtitle.

(3)  Entering into contracts and agreements.

(4)  Engaging services.

(5)  Requesting and obtaining from any department,
division, board, bureau, commission or other agency of the State,
such assistance and data as will enable it properly to carry out
its powers and duties hereunder.

(6)  Accepting any federal funds granted by act of
Congress or by executive order for any and all of the purposes of
this subtitle.

(7)  Accepting any gifts, donations or bequests for
any or all of the purposes of this subtitle.
