Ch. 306                            LAWS OF MARYLAND

(2) "Waterworks" does not include a facility that is
used only by a private residence.

[20-102] 12-102.

The General Assembly enacts this title to establish a
certification program for superintendents, operators, and
industrial operators of waterworks, wastewater works, and
industrial wastewater works:

(1)  To protect the quality of water in which wastes
are placed;

(2)  To protect the public health; and

(3)  To prevent pollution.

[20-103] 12-103.

This title does not limit the right of an individual -to
practice a health occupation that the individual is authorized to
practice under this article OR THE HEALTH - GENERAL ARTICLE.

Subtitle 2. State Board of Waterworks and
Waste Systems Operators

[20-201] 12-201.

There is a State Board of Waterworks and Waste Systems
Operators in the Department.

[20-202] 12-202.

(a) (1) The Board consists of 11 members.

(2) With the advice and consent of the Senate, the
Governor shall appoint 8 members who represent one or more of the
following:                                                                                                     

(i) Municipal government;

(ii) County government;

(iii) A sanitary or a metropolitan commission;

(iv) Waterworks supervision;

(v) Wastewater works or industrial wastewater
works supervision;

(vi) Agriculture;
