Ch. 248                                    LAWS OF MARYLAND

(1)  may proceed with the protective order hearing;
and

(2)  if the court finds by clear and convincing
evidence that the alleged abuse has occurred, may grant a
protective order to stop the abuse.

(e) The protective order shall order the alleged abuser to
refrain from abusing household members and may:

(1)  except in a case of alleged child abuse, order
the alleged abuser to vacate the family home immediately and
grant temporary possession of the family home to the petitioner
for not more than [15] 45 30 days;

(2)  in a case of alleged child abuse, order the
alleged abuser to vacate the family home immediately and grant
temporary possession of the family home to an adult household
member for not more than [25] 55 30 days;

(3)  award temporary custody of a minor household
member;

(4)  direct any or all of the household members to
participate in a professionally supervised counseling program;

and

(5)  order any other relief as necessary.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

AN ACT concerning

Retail Sales and Use. Taxes - Refunds - Interest

FOR the purpose of requiring the Comptroller to pay interest at a
certain rate on certain documented claims for refund due
under the Retail Sales and Use Tax Acts; and generally
relating to the computation of interest due on refunds under
the Retail Sales and Use Tax Acts.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
