and personalty of the employer against whom the assessment is
made in the same manner as, for all the purposes of, and having
the same force and effect as a judgment of the court duly
docketed. No property of the employer used in connection with
the business of the employer shall be exempt from levy.

The Executive Director is hereby authorized to compromise,
settle and adjust any contributions and/or interest assessed
against any employer where in the judgment of the Executive
Director the best interests of the State of Maryland will be
promoted or served thereby and may in such cases accept in full
settlement of the contributions and/or interest assessed an
amount less than that assessed.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a grammatical error in
Article 95A, § 15(d).

The grammatical error occurred in Ch. 385 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of 1941.

The grammatical error was noted by the Michie Company.

Article 96 1/2 - Veterans

9.

In administering the directions of this subtitle as to
reinstatement and reemployment of Second World War veterans, the
following rules shall apply:

(c) The right to determine what is a "comparable" or "most
comparable" position is hereby vested in the [State Commissioner]
SECRETARY of Personnel in the cases of Second World War veterans
who were State employees, either classified or unclassified, in
the cases of Second World War veterans who were employees of
other governmental units, such right shall be vested in the civil
service commission or individual or body having similar powers
and duties in any governmental unit having such a civil service
commission, or other individual or body with similar powers and
duties, or if there be none in any governmental unit in the
appointing authority of such governmental unit. Any such
determination by the appropriate official or body herein
authorized to pass thereon, unless arbitrary or wholly
unreasonable, shall be binding upon the appointing authority and
the veteran.

In case of any Second World War veteran who was a State
employee, either classified or unclassified, the [State
Commissioner] SECRETARY of Personnel shall have the authority,
after proper investigation, including medical and mental
examinations deemed necessary, to determine the qualifications of
such a veteran to perform the duties of the position to which he
asks reinstatement or reemployment. In the case of all other
