Ch. 150

(a) Except in the District Court and except as provided in
this section, an attorney-at-law is entitled to demand and
receive the following fees:

(1)  For bringing, prosecuting, or defending any
action at law in a court of original jurisdiction — $5;

(2)  For prosecuting or defending any action,
including the collection of money due on mortgage, in a court of
equity — $10;

(3)  For prosecuting or defending a case in the Court
of Appeals — $10;

(4)  For prosecuting or defending a criminal case if
the punishment for the offense charged is death or confinement in
the penitentiary — $10;

(5)  In all other criminal cases — $5.

(T) (1) IN GARRETT COUNTY, THE CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT
SHALL DEPOSIT MONTHLY ALL APPEARANCE FEES COLLECTED UNDER
SUBSECTION (A) OF THIS SECTION INTO A SPECIAL ACCOUNT TO BE KNOWN
AS THE GARRETT COUNTY LAW LIBRARY FUND.

(2) THE FUND SHALL BE USED ONLY FOR THE ACQUISITION
OF BOOKS AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS, LIBRARY EQUIPMENT, AND FOR OTHER
NECESSARY EXPENSES, AS DETERMINED BY THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATIVE
JUDGE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning

Clerks of Circuit Courts - Salaries

FOR the purpose of altering the maximum salary that may be
received by the clerk of each circuit court; providing that
this Act does not affect incumbents; and generally relating
to the compensation of clerks of circuit courts.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings
