(a) (3) "Eligible subscriber" means an individual who is
certified to the local telephone company in whose service area
the individual is applying for service by the Department of Human
Resources as receiving benefits under Article 88A, Section 65A of
the Code, "general public assistance", or supplemental security
income under [to] Title XVI of the federal Social Security Act.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This deletes extraneous language in Article
78, § 26A(a)(3) which created a nonsensical sentence.

The extraneous language was included on Chs. 733 and
771 of the Acts of the Regular Session of the General
Assembly of 1985.

The extraneous language was noted by the State
Attorney General in his bill review letter of May 7,

1985,

27.

(a) No public service company shall in its utility
operations:

(1)  Sell or render service or furnish any commodity
until its schedules of rates therefor have been duly filed and
published in accordance with § 28(a) of this article[.];

(2)  Demand or collect a greater or less compensation
for any service or commodity than specified therefor in its
schedules as in force at the time[,];

(3)  Demand or collect any charge which for any reason
violates any of the provisions of this article[,]; OR

(4)  Assist, suffer or permit any of the things
prohibited by this section to be done by any means or device,
including but not limited to false billing, false classification,
false weighing, or false report of weight.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects stylistic errors in and adds
an omitted disjunctive "or" to a list of prohibitions
in Article 78, § 27(a).

The stylistic errors and the omission occurred in Ch.
10 of the Acts of the Regular Session of the General
Assembly of 1985.

The errors were noted by the Computer Division of the
Department of Legislative Reference.
