To establish an appropriation on

page 13 of the printed bill

(first reading file bill), to
provide a lump sum General Fund
appropriation for an upgrade of

the Maryland State Police

helicopter fleet, training and

communications equipment, to

provide coverage in areas not

currently covered, to provide

24-hour service in areas not

currently served on a 24-hour

basis; and to provide up to

$300,000 in additional funds for
the Emergency Assistance Trust
Fund. These funds may only be
spent after the submission of a
study on various aspects of the

organization, management and

structure of the State's

emergency medical system and the
adequacy of the Maryland State
Police's helicopter fleet to the
Governor and General Assembly.
This appropriation is contingent
upon enactment of Senate Bill 969

and/or House Bill 1338. The

amount expended pursuant to this
appropriation may not exceed the
General Funds collected pursuant

to this legislation. These

appropriations may be transferred

by budget amendment to the

appropriate program budget.
