Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 768.
This bill expands the authority of judges of the Circuit

appointment of masters for juvenile causes by permitting those
judges to appoint masters to conduct disposition hearings in
child in need of assistance cases.
Senate Bill 356, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on April 8, 1986, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 768.
Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor
