VETOES

[(k)] (M) (L) Nothing in this section shall alter the
geographical area in which a police officer may act.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.

May 27, 1986
The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 767.

This bill alters the list of public safety personnel whose
children may receive scholarships, and requires that certain
public safety personnel receive certain tuition reimbursement by
the State Scholarship Board for certain courses.

Senate Bill 431, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 13, 1986, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 767.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

House Bill No. 767

AN ACT concerning

Scholarships for Public Safety Personnel and Their Children

FOR the purpose of altering the list of public safety personnel
whose children may receive scholarships; requiring that
certain public safety personnel receive full and complete
certain tuition reimbursement by the State Scholarship Board
for certain courses; requiring the tuition reimbursement
application to be filed by a certain date; and generally
relating to scholarships for public safety personnel and
their children.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
