AN ACT concerning

Health Care Cost Containment - Licensing — Major Medical

Equipment

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Secretary of Health and
Medical Mental Hygiene to investigate complaints concerning
licensees of major medical equipment; authorizing the
Secretary to inspect the operation of licensed major medical
equipment for certain purposes; requiring certain complaints
to be referred to the Commission on Medical Discipline of
Maryland; authorizing the Secretary to deny a license for
major medical equipment under certain circumstances; and
generally relating to the licensing of major medical
equipment.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

19-1005.1.

(A) THE SECRETARY MAY:

(1)  INVESTIGATE COMPLAINTS CONCERNING THE CONFORMANCE
OF A LICENSEE OF MAJOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT TO THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THIS SUBTITLE OR TO THE REGULATIONS ADOPTED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE;
AND

(2)  INSPECT THE OPERATION OF MAJOR MEDICAL EQUIPMENT
LICENSED UNDER THIS SUBTITLE IN ORDER TO VERIFY COMPLIANCE WITH
REGULATIONS GOVERNING ADEQUATE SAFETY STANDARDS.
