SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning
Hospitals - Requests for Consent for Anatomical Donations
FOR the purpose of requiring certain designated persons at
hospitals in this State to ascertain whether patients at the
hospital have consented to certain anatomical donations of
organs or tissues; providing for the inclusion of this
information on certain forms; requiring certain designated
persons at a hospital in this State to request certain next
of kin of an individual a minor patient who dies in the
hospital to consent to certain anatomical donations from the
decedent; providing certain exemptions; providing for
certain discretion and sensitivity in asking for donations
under this Act; providing for the documentation of a request
and its disposition under this Act; requiring the Secretary
of Health and Mental Hygiene to adopt certain regulations to
carry out this Act; providing for compliance with the
provisions of this Act; and generally relating to requests
to consent to the provision of anatomical donations from a
decedent who dies in a hospital.
