AN ACT concerning

Power Plant Site Acquisition

FOR the purpose of removing the requirement for the Department of
Natural Resources to acquire a power plant site for certain
electric utility companies; providing that the Department
may acquire a power plant site for an electric utility
company upon request by the Public Service Commission;
removing a restriction on the Department's ability to
acquire a power plant site for certain electric utility
companies; modifying the circumstances under which the
Public Service Commission requests the Secretary of Natural
Resources to purchase a power plant site; altering the title
of a certain Act; and generally relating to power plant site
acquisition.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows;

Subtitle 3. Power Plant [Siting and] Research Program

3-305.

(a) The expertise of the electric utilities in the basic
requirements, including environmental considerations, of a site
for power generation and generator lead route is a needed element
in site selection. Therefore, for the purposes of insuring
adequate power on reasonable schedules while also protecting the
quality of the State's environment, site acquisition and
generator lead route designation may occur as follows:
