CHAPTER 670

(Senate Bill 438)

AN ACT concerning

State Employees - Vacation Leave

FOR the purpose of altering the amount of vacation leave certain
State employees may accumulate; and generally relating to
vacation leave of State employees.

BY repealing

Article 64A - Merit System

Section 37(a)(2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1983 Replacement Volume and 1985 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article 64A - Merit System

Section 37(a)(2)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1983 Replacement Volume and 1985 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 64A - Merit System

37.

(a) [(2) Any employee using less than full vacation leave
allowable beginning January 1, 1942, shall be entitled to have
such unused leave accumulated up to 35 working days, which shall
be available to such employee for vacation leave at any time,
with the approval of the head of the department.]

(2) (I) AN EMPLOYEE IS ENTITLED TO ACCUMULATE UP TO
60 45 WORKING DAYS OF UNUSED VACATION LEAVE.

(II) WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE HEAD OF THE
DEPARTMENT, AN EMPLOYEE MAY USE ACCUMULATED VACATION LEAVE AT ANY
TIME.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.
