with the Maryland Rules. The health care provider shall file a
response with the Director and serve a copy on the claimant and
all other health care providers named therein within the time
provided in the Maryland Rules for filing a responsive pleading
to a [declaration] COMPLAINT. The claim and the response may
include a statement that the matter in controversy falls within
one or more particular recognized specialties.

Article - Health Occupations
14-402.

(a) (1) The Commission consists of 11 members.

(2)  Of the 11 Commission members:

(i) 2 shall be ex officio members:

1.  The president-elect of the Faculty;
and

2.  The chairman of the council of the
Faculty;

(ii) [7] 8 shall be appointed by the Secretary,
of whom:

1.  4 shall be practicing licensed
physicians appointed from a list of nominees submitted by the
Faculty;

2.  2 shall be practicing licensed
physicians; [and]

3.  1 shall be a member of the Board;
[and]

4.  1 SHALL BE A CONSUMER MEMBER
KNOWLEDGEABLE IN RISK MANAGEMENT OR QUALITY ASSURANCE MATTERS AND
BE NOMINATED FROM A LIST SUBMITTED BY THE MARYLAND HOSPITAL
ASSOCIATION; AND

(iii) [2] 1 shall be A consumer [members]
MEMBER appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Secretary
and the advice and consent of the Senate.

(3)  The Faculty shall prepare its list of nominees
from recommendations submitted to it by component societies of
the Faculty.

(f) (1) The term of each appointed member is 3 years,
except that the initial term of one of the consumer members is 2
years.
