enforcement of the provisions of the Compact; providing for
certain prohibited acts; providing for compensation and
clean-up during a facilities' operational and post-closure
periods; providing for the severability of this Act;
generally relating to the Appalachian States Low-Level
Radioactive Waste Compact; and making this Act an emergency
measure.

Section 7-301 through 7-310, inclusive
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1982 Volume and 1985 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article - Health - Environmental

Section 7-301 through 7-306, inclusive, to be under the new

subtitle "Subtitle 3. Appalachian States Low-Level

Radioactive Waste Compact"
Annotated Code of Maryland
(1982 Volume and 1985 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That Section(s) 7-301 through 7-310, inclusive, of

Article - Health - Environmental of the Annotated Code of
Maryland be repealed.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:

Title 7. Hazardous Materials and Hazardous Substances

SUBTITLE 3. APPALACHIAN STATES LOW-LEVEL
RADIOACTIVE WASTE COMPACT

7-301.

ARTICLE I
DEFINITIONS

AS USED IN THE COMPACT, UNLESS THE CONTEXT CLEARLY INDICATES
OTHERWISE:

A. "BROKER" MEANS ANY INTERMEDIATE PERSON WHO HANDLES,
TREATS, PROCESSES, STORES, PACKAGES, SHIPS OR OTHERWISE HAS
RESPONSIBILITY FOR OR POSSESSES LOW-LEVEL WASTE OBTAINED FROM A
GENERATOR.
