SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes

468.

(a) (1) The governing body of Garrett and any code county
shall, for the taxable year beginning July 1, 1981, and every
taxable year thereafter, levy a tax upon every person exercising
the privilege, within the county, of engaging in or continuing in
the business of severing coal by the surface raining method.

(2) The tax shall be 40 cents for each ton of surface

mined coal [in the county] THAT IS REPORTED TO THE BUREAU OF THE

MINES UNDER § 7-507 OF THE NATURAL RESOURCES ARTICLE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall

take effect July 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning

Sewage Disposal Systems - Authorized Systems

FOR the purpose of authorizing a person to use certain sewage

disposal systems on a parcel of land in the coastal plain
physiographic province of the State under certain

circumstances; authorizing a person with an individually
assessed parcel of land a legally approved lot existing at a

certain time period to use a test and evaluate a sewage
disposal system that is in accordance with certain

regulations, practices, and procedures of the Department of
Health and Mental Hygiene that were in effect on a certain
date; requiring the Department to promote, and study the use
of certain sewage disposal systems; requiring certain
reports to the Governor and General Assembly; and generally
relating to certain sewage disposal systems.
