SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall

take effect July 1, 1986.

CHAPTER 423

(House Bill 196)

AN ACT concerning

Health - Reimbursement and Collection - Chargeable Persons

FOR the purpose of authorizing the Department of Health and

Mental Hygiene to collect certain payments from any person
who maintains a policy of health insurance under which a
recipient of certain services is insured; requiring the
payment of those services regardless of whether the
recipient of services was admitted voluntarily,
involuntarily, or by court order; and generally relating to
reimbursement and collection of moneys by the Department.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 16-101, 16-102(a), 16-203, and 16-404

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1982 Volume and 1985 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF

MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health - General

16-101.

(a)  In this title the following words have the meanings
indicated.

(b) (1) As to a recipient of services under the Maryland
Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Law, a word
used in this title has the same meaning as is indicated by a
definition of the word in § 7-101 of this article.

(2) As to a recipient of services under the Maryland
Mental Hygiene Law, a word used in this title has the same
meaning as is indicated by a definition of the word in § 10-101
of this article.

(c)  "Chargeable person" means:
