1534                                       LAWS OF MARYLAND                                   Ch. 404

(3)  A MEMBER WHO IS APPOINTED AFTER A TERM HAS BEGUN
SERVES ONLY FOR THE REST OF THE TERM AND UNTIL A SUCCESSOR IS
APPOINTED AND QUALIFIES.

(4)  THE SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES OR THE
SPEAKER'S DESIGNEE AND THE PRESIDENT OF THE STATE SENATE OR THE
PRESIDENT'S DESIGNEE SHALL SERVE AS NONVOTING MEMBERS OF THE
ADVISORY COUNCIL.

(5)  MEMBERS ARE ELIGIBLE FOR REAPPOINTMENT.

6-705.

FROM AMONG ITS MEMBERS, THE ADVISORY COUNCIL SHALL ELECT A
CHAIRPERSON.

6-706.

(A)  THE ADVISORY COUNCIL SHALL MEET AT LEAST 4 TIMES EVERY
YEAR AND AT PLACES THAT IT DETERMINES.

(B)  A MEMBER OF THE ADVISORY COUNCIL:

(1)  MAY NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION; BUT

(2)  IS ENTITLED TO REIMBURSEMENT FOR EXPENSES UNDER
THE STANDARD STATE TRAVEL REGULATIONS, AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE
BUDGET.

(C)  THE DEPARTMENT SHALL PROVIDE THE ADVISORY COUNCIL WITH
SECRETARIAL AND SUPPORT SERVICES.

6-707.

(A) AS TO LEAD POISONING, THE ADVISORY COUNCIL MAY:

(1)  COLLECT AND EVALUATE ANY PERTINENT INFORMATION,
INCLUDING PERTINENT INFORMATION ON THE PREVENTION, MANAGEMENT,
AND TREATMENT OF LEAD POISONING;

(2)  REVIEW RECENT STUDIES ON THE PREVENTION,
MANAGEMENT, AND TREATMENT OF LEAD POISONING;

(3)  ADVISE THE SECRETARY ON SHORT-RANGE AND
LONG-RANGE COURSES OF ACTION;

(4)  RESPOND TO REQUESTS FROM THE SECRETARY FOR
ADVICE;

(5) COORDINATE WITH AND SEEK ADVICE FROM THE
BALTIMORE CITY LEAD POISONING PREVENTION TASK FORCE;

(5) (6) AID ANY APPROPRIATE STATE AGENCY, PRIVATE
INDIVIDUAL, OR PRIVATE ORGANIZATION IN DEVELOPING PROPOSALS;
