March Court 1714/15 60 and Ireland King &ca At Swan Creek hundred in- the County afd the fear of God not- haveing did Committ fornication with a Certain man to the Jurors unknown to y.e high displeasure of Almighty God and against the peace of our Sovereigne Lord the King his Crown and Dignity and the form of an Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided Johnson pr Doms Rege. on the back of the preceeding bill of Indictment was as folls vizt. Billa vera Sam Wallis foreman pr Information of Edwd Davis Cunstable And the Said Rachel being Called Came and in her proper person appeared to the afd Indictment. And the Same being read and the Said Rachel being Asked whether She is Guilty or not Guilty as abovesd to which She Saith that She. is Guilty of the Premises afd and Submits herselfe wholly to the determine: :tion of this Court . . . ordered by this Court here that the Sd Rachel prove. the begitter of the base born Child She bore of her body but denys to do the Same.: Therefore it is Considered by this Court here viz.t this Sixth day of Aprill Anno Domini one Thousand Seven hundred and Ffifteen That the. Said Rachel Dutitree have nineteen lashes well Layd on her bare back till the blood appeare According to the Discretion of the Court &ca. And also pay the. Sume of four hundred forty nine pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing on the premises to the officers of this Court . It is Likewise Considered by the Court here vizt. the Same day last mentioned that William Frisby Gent- high Sherf of Said County take the Said Rachel Dutitre to the whyping Post and there to Skip her and to receive on her bare back as in the Judgment afd And when Executed to bring her into Court After which the Same day last mentioned Came the Said Sherrife and made return of his precept in these words thereon Endorsed as foll viz In all things Served and Executed pr Wm Frisby Sherf. Ordered by the Court here that the Said Rachel give Surety to keep the . Child that was delivered of her body from any Charge that hath or may Accrew to this County James Meeks & William Hopkins Comes into Court and Acknowledge them : :selves indebted to our Sovereign Lord King George his heires and Successors in the. full and Just Sume of Ffour Thousand pounds of Tobacco Each to be Leaveyed on there Goods and Chattells Lands and Tenements Conditionally that if the Said Child |
