          On this 16.th ^Dec.r^ 1843 personally appears Hinson
       Lanham before me the subscriber a justice of
       the Peace in and for said County and makes oath
       on the Holy Evangely of Almighty God that negro
       Francis Davis is the same ^boy^ willed free by the last
       Will and Testament of Mary Green Hardy
       and that he is Eighteen years old
