The bearer hereof John Henson a coloured man who was manumitted by the will of Doctor W.m Beanes of this County and who obtained from me a certificate of his freedom on the 14.th Nov 1828 has this day presented to me an affidavit that he has had the Certificate Stolen from him, and desires to obtain a duplicate Will be permitted to pass and repass to M.r T. T. Somerwall with whom he hired I have declined giving the duplicate, thinking that time had better be allowed him to find the original & have thought proper to issue this pass J Chew Reg of Wills Sept.r 9 1831 for P.
