                                              Vausville P G C.t Dec.r 31.st 1834

       Aquila Beall Esq.r
                                 for the Bearer of this Julian Matthews is desirous
       to obtain a certificate of her freedom by refering to a Deed of
       Manumission on Record in your office from Solomon Matthews
       (who is her father) you will find she has been lawfully Emansipated
       Julian is of dark copper colour of common size staight and
       well made has a remarkable scar on the upper part of her Breast
       near the throat occasioned by a Burn ^also a scar on her left hand above her fore finger^ I have known Julian for
       many years  She has been in my house at different times and know her to be
       the person named in the Deed of Manumission mentioned above if this should
       not be deemed sufficient She can be more possitively Identified
