To W.m A Jarboe ^Chs J Middleton^ Esqr sir Robert Gray the bearer of this is free born his Mother Matilda Gray who was purchased by my Father James Harvey from the Estate of the late Martha Cox and to serve for a certain time by her last will and testament and the said Matilda did serve her time out and the aforesaid Robert was bourn after his Mother (Matilda Gray) became free. Also he is about 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high and has a scar on his left ancle from a burn and a small scar in his forehead and one on his right wrist acctioned by the cut of sythe & send you this for the purpose his obtaining his free papers which he is Entitled to Eleanor G Harvey The above annext was sworn to and subscribed before the subscriber a Justice of the peace of the State of Maryland in and for Prince Georges County This 28.th day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand Eighty hundred and sixty and that the said Robert Gray was bourn July 2.d 1836 Sworn before E Connick J.P. |
