       Dear Sir
                            this will be handed you by David
       Peck a free black man who goes to y.r office to
       obtain his freedom papers he was born free  I
       have know him from his infancy he was born
       on M Mackalls Plantation and is the son of
       old David Peck who I dare say you very well
       knew as he was a tenant to M Mackall Jr
       many years he and his wife both were free
       there is no obsticle in the way of their son the present
       David Pecks giting his papers respectfully I am
