       Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

            I hereby certify that the bearer hereof Negro
       John who calls himself John Williams a dark
       mulatto man about five feet nine inches high
       with a scar on the upper part of the thumb
       of the left hand and also a small scar on
       the right wrist and a small scar on his forehead
       just above the left eye is a freeman
       being the reputed son of Kate Campbell
       who was liberated by John Williams of said
       county before the birth of the said mulatto
       man John Williams
                   Given under my hand and seal of office
                   this tenth day of June in the year of
                   our lord one thousand eight hundred and
                   thirteen
