       The State of Maryland Prince Georges County to wit
   
             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a man by
       the name of James of a very dark complexion
       being about forty one years old five feet six inches
       and one eighth of an inch high pitted on the nose
       apparently by the small pox his small finger
       on his left hand crooked and stiff having one of
       his foreteeth out and a scar on his left knee
       who was raised in Prince Georges County is a
       freeman And became entitled to his freedom
       in virtue of a Deed of Manumission from
       Artridge Waters of the county aforesaid dated
       the Eleventh day of April in the year seventeen
       Hundred and seventy eight and duly executed
       acknowledged and recorded in the Land Records
       of the county aforesaid

                   Given under my hand and the seal of
                   my office this thirtieth day of May
                   one thousand eight Hundred and seven

       Queen a very dark mulatto had apparently
       about Eighteen or Nineteen years old about five
       feet one inch and an half high a scar between
       the first and second toe on his left foot supposed
       to be occasioned by a burn and who was raised
