(E) REGIONAL AND PRIVATE PLANNING AGENCIES.

THE DEPARTMENT SHALL COOPERATE WITH AND ASSIST REGIONAL AND
PRIVATE PLANNING AGENCIES IN THE EXECUTION OF THEIR PLANNING
FUNCTIONS, TO HARMONIZE THEIR PLANNING ACTIVITIES WITH THE STATE
DEVELOPMENT PLAN.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 88C, §
2(a) and the second sentence and the second clause of
the first sentence of (i) and items (1), (4), and (5)
of the third sentence of § 1.

In subsection (b)(2) of this section, the reference to
"local governments" is substituted for the former
words "departments or other agencies or
instrumentalities of ... local government as well as
county, municipal or other local ... planning
agencies", for brevity and clarity.

In subsection (c)(2) of this section, the reference to
"units of the federal government" is substituted for
the former words "departments and other agencies or
instrumentalities of federal ... government", for
brevity and clarity.

In subsection (c)(3)(i) of this section, the reference
to "units of the federal government" is substituted
for the former words "federal agencies", for
consistency with the language of subsection (c)(2) of
this section.

5-403. FINANCIAL AND OTHER PLANNING ASSISTANCE.

(A)  LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.

THE DEPARTMENT:

(1) SHALL PROVIDE PLANNING ASSISTANCE, INCLUDING
SURVEYS, LAND USE STUDIES, URBAN RENEWAL PLANS, TECHNICAL
SERVICES, AND OTHER PLANNING WORK, TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS; AND

(2) MAY PROVIDE FINANCIAL AND OTHER PLANNING
ASSISTANCE TO LOCAL GOVERNMENTS.

(B)  REGIONAL PLANNING AGENCIES.

THE DEPARTMENT MAY PROVIDE FINANCIAL OR OTHER PLANNING
ASSISTANCE TO REGIONAL PLANNING AGENCIES.
