REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
133(b), except the first sentence of that subsection.

In the introductory language of this section, the
defined term "Department" is substituted for the
former reference to the "Secretary", for clarity and
to conform to similar provisions in this subtitle.

In item (6) of this section, the word "otherwise",
which formerly modified the reference to obstructing
free passage, is deleted as surplusage.

4-605. SECURITY FORCE.

(A)  IN GENERAL.

(1)  IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE MERIT SYSTEM LAW,
THE SECRETARY MAY ESTABLISH A SECURITY FORCE TO PROTECT PEOPLE
AND PROPERTY ON OR ABOUT IMPROVEMENTS, GROUNDS, AND MULTISERVICE
CENTERS UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF THE DEPARTMENT.

(2)  THE SECURITY FORCE MAY INCLUDE SWORN POLICE
OFFICERS.

(B)  TRANSFER OF MEMBERS.

A MEMBER OF THE SECURITY FORCE MAY NOT BE INVOLUNTARILY
TRANSFERRED FROM A SITE TO ANOTHER SITE.

(C)  POLICE POWERS OF MEMBERS.

A MEMBER OF THE SECURITY FORCE HAS THE SAME POWERS AS A
SHERIFF OR POLICE OFFICER UNDER ARTICLE 27, § 594B(F) OF THE CODE
ONLY IF THE MEMBER:

(1)  MEETS THE LEGAL REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH BY THE
MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING COMMISSION; AND

(2)  IS DESIGNATED BY THE DEPARTMENT AS A POLICE
OFFICER.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 41, §
133(e)(1) through (3).

In subsection (b) of this section, the former word
"assigned" is deleted as included in the word
"transferred".

Also in subsection (b) of this section, the words
"from a site to another site" are substituted for the
