THE DIRECTOR HOLDS OFFICE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS
OF THE MERIT SYSTEM LAW.

(D) OATH.

BEFORE TAKING OFFICE, THE APPOINTEE SHALL TAKE THE OATH
REQUIRED BY ARTICLE I, § 9 OF THE MARYLAND CONSTITUTION.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a) through (c) of this section
are new language derived without substantive change
from former Art. 81, § 231B(a) and the first sentence
of (b).

Subsection (d) of this section is standard language
added to state the duty of any individual appointed to
an office of profit or trust to take the oath
specified in the Md. Constitution. This addition is
supported by 64 Op. Att'y Gen. 246, (1979).

2-103. STAFF AND CONSULTANTS.

THE DIRECTOR MAY EMPLOY STAFF AND CONSULTANTS IN ACCORDANCE
WITH THE STATE BUDGET.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 81, §
231B(c).

The word "staff" is substituted for the former,
specific references to "assistants, employees", and
"clerical staff", for brevity.

2-104. STATE SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS AND AREA SUPERVISORS.

(A)  DESIGNATION.

THE DIRECTOR SHALL DESIGNATE 1 EMPLOYEE OF THE DEPARTMENT TO
BE "STATE SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS" AND OTHER EMPLOYEES OF THE
DEPARTMENT TO BE "ASSESSMENTS AREA SUPERVISORS".

(B)  DUTIES.

SUBJECT TO THE DIRECTION OF THE DIRECTOR, THE STATE
SUPERVISOR OF ASSESSMENTS AND THE ASSESSMENTS AREA SUPERVISORS
SHALL SUPERVISE THE PERFORMANCE OF DUTIES OF THE SUPERVISORS AND
THE VARIOUS ASSESSORS APPOINTED UNDER THIS TITLE.

(C) REMOVAL.
