take effect July 1, 1985.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 998.

This bill increases from 11 to 13 the number of members of
the Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission.

Senate Bill 196, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 28, 1985, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 998.

AN ACT concerning

Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission - Composition

FOR the purpose of altering the membership of the Maryland
Fire-Rescue Education and Training Commission; and altering
certain quorum requirements; and providing that the
additional members of the Commission appointed pursuant to
this Act may not be from jurisdictions represented on the
Commission as of June 30, 1985.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
