VETOES

May 28, 1985
The Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin
Speaker of the House of Delegates
State House
Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 476.

This bill requires the Department of Assessments and
Taxation to collect the transfer tax on the transfer of certain
corporate assets in Baltimore County.

Senate Bill 249, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on May 21, 1985, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 476.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

House Bill No. 476

AN ACT concerning

Baltimore County - Transfer Tax - Corporate Assets

FOR the purpose of repealing an exception for a certain transfer
tax in Baltimore County in order to require that the
Department of Assessment and Taxation collect the county tax
imposed by Baltimore County on the transfer of certain
corporate assets; making technical changes; providing for
effective dates for the provisions of this Act; and
generally relating to the collection and distribution of the
Baltimore County tax imposed on the transfer of certain
corporate assets.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes

Section 277A

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1980 Replacement Volume and 1984 Supplement)
