AN ACT concerning

State Highways - Outdoor Signs

FOR the purpose of providing that a permit from the State Highway
Administration is not required to erect or maintain an
outdoor sign that advertises the sale in season of fresh
produce by a property owner or a person with certain
permission of the property owner under. certain
circumstances; providing that a certain outdoor sign may
not be erected or maintained for more than a certain period
of time; providing for the removal of a certain outdoor sign
at certain times; and generally relating to an exception
from the requirement of a certain permit for certain outdoor
signs.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Transportation

8-714.

(a). Whether or not the person must be licensed under Part
II of this subtitle, a person may not erect or maintain any
outdoor sign outside the limits of any municipal corporation and
within 500 feet of a State highway, unless the person has a
permit issued by the Administration for that sign.

(b) A permit is not required under this section to erect or
maintain any outdoor sign:

(1)  That is used only to advertise the sale or lease
of the property on which it is located;

(2)  That is on or within 100 feet of any building or
the entrance to any building in which the business advertised is
carried on;
