HARRY HUGHES, Governor                                      3805

May 28, 1985

The Honorable Melvin A. Steinberg

President of the Senate

State House

Annapolis, Maryland 21404

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill 275.

This bill provides that a suspension or revocation of a
driver's license or a refusal to issue or renew a driver's
license because of epilepsy may not exceed 90 days unless the
individual experiences a seizure within the 90 days.

House Bill 913, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on May 21, 1985, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign Senate Bill 275.

Sincerely,
Harry Hughes
Governor

Senate Bill No. 275

AN ACT concerning

Vehicle Laws - Driver's License - Suspension

FOR the purpose of providing that if the Motor Vehicle
Administration suspends, revokes, or refuses to issue or
renew a driver's license of an individual under certain
circumstances because of the individual's epilepsy, the
period of suspension, revocation, or refusal to issue or
renew may not exceed a certain period of time; providing
certain exceptions to the provisions of this Act; and
generally relating to the suspension, revocation, or refusal
to issue or renew a driver's license of an individual
because of the individual's epilepsy.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Article - Transportation

Section 16-206(a)(2)
