JOINT RESOLUTIONS
International Youth Year
FOR the purpose of recognizing 1985 as the "International Year of
the Youth"; and requesting all citizens of Maryland to
celebrate the contributions of youth of the State.
WHEREAS, The United Nations has designated 1985 the
"International Year of the Youth"; and
WHEREAS, Young people play a significant role in our society
and deserve positive recognition; and
WHEREAS, Many youth advocates are planning activities to
celebrate Maryland's youth; and
WHEREAS, The General Assembly of Maryland wishes to join
with the many organizations and individuals who are honoring
young people around the world; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That this body
recognizes 1985 as the "International Year of the Youth"; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That all citizens of Maryland are requested to
celebrate in a special way the positive contributions of the
young people of this State; and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution be forwarded by the
Department of Legislative Reference to the Honorable Harry
Hughes, Governor of Maryland, the Honorable Benjamin L. Cardin,
Speaker of the House of Delegates, and the Honorable Melvin A.
Steinberg, President of the Senate of Maryland, Joanne T.
Goldsmith, President, State Board of Education, 200 W. Baltimore
Street, Baltimore, MD 21201, and Thomas H. Maddux, Chairperson,
State Board for Higher Education, 16 Francis Street, Annapolis,
MD 21401, and John E. Kyle, Director, Office on Children and
Youth, 301 W. Preston Street, Suite 1502, Baltimore, MD 21201,
who shall send copies of this Resolution to the chairperson of
the Advisory Committee for Children and Youth and to the
president of the Governor's Youth Advisory Council.
