JOINT RESOLUTIONS
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, As
recommended by the Judicial Compensation Commission, beginning
July 1, 1985, that judicial salaries be set by adding to the
salaries proposed by the Commission's 1983 Report any general
salary increase granted State employees beginning July 1, 1985,
under Section 1-703(b) of the Courts and Judicial proceedings
Article. The general salary increase recommended by the Governor
for fiscal 1986, to begin July 1, 1985, is 4%. Should the
General Assembly adopt a general salary increase other than 4%,
the amount to be added to the salaries recommended in the 1983
Report would be adjusted in concert with a general increase
greater or lesser than 4%. Based on salaries recommended by the
1983 Report, to which is added a general salary increase of 4%,
and with the resultant amounts rounded to next higher $500,
the salary levels for Maryland's judiciary beginning July 1,
1985, shall be as follows:

that will range from 6.3% to 8.9% higher than the salaries in
effect during fiscal year 1985; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That the
fiscal year 1986 salaries of the judges and chief judges of
Maryland's Judiciary be increased by a percentage equivalent to
any general salary increase granted to State employees in fiscal
year 1986 pursuant to Section 1-703(b) of the Courts and Judicial
Proceedings Article.
