(B) (1) COMMISSIONERS APPOINTED FROM MONTGOMERY COUNTY
SHALL RECEIVE $6,500 PER YEAR, OR IF THE COMMISSIONER SERVES AS A
MEMBER OR AN ALTERNATE OF THE WASHINGTON METROPOLITAN AREA
TRANSIT AUTHORITY, $10,000 PER YEAR.
(2) A COMMISSIONER WHO IS AN ELECTED OFFICIAL OR A
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY MAY NOT RECEIVE
COMPENSATION FOR SERVICE ON THE COMMISSION.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, Section 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this
Act may not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or
compensation of the commissioners of the Washington Suburban
Transit Commission in office on the effective date of this Act,
but the provisions of this Act concerning the salary or
compensation of the commissioners of the Washington Suburban
Transit Commission shall take effect at the beginning of the next
following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

(House Bill 281)
AN ACT concerning
Pensions - Municipal Corporations
FOR the purpose of consolidating certain provisions relating to
the participation of municipal corporations in the Employees
Retirement System and the Pension System for Employees of
the State of Maryland; providing for certain definitions,
entitlement to membership, optional and compulsory
membership, the termination of local pension systems, and
special accrued liabilities upon election to join the State
systems; providing for the computation, certification,
budgeting, payment, and crediting of normal and accrued
liability and employee contributions; providing for
withdrawal from the State systems and withdrawal
liabilities; providing for the duties of certain fiscal
officers, and the benefits of municipal corporation
employees; providing for the adjustment of accrued liability
contribution rates of municipal corporations for certain
purposes; and generally relating to the participation of
municipal corporations in the Maryland State Retirement and
Pension Systems.
