(d) The award of scholarships under this section shall
commence in fiscal 1970-71 and shall continue thereafter;
provided that no more than fifteen persons in all of the several
categories may hold scholarships at any one time.]

(B) SCHOLARSHIPS UNDER THIS SECTION SHALL BE AWARDED TO
RECIPIENTS IN AN AMOUNT AND NUMBER THAT IS IN ACCORDANCE WITH
CRITERIA SPECIFIED BY THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

[(e)] (C) The County Commissioners are authorized and
empowered to:

(1)  appropriate funds for scholarships hereunder from
the general funds of Charles County . ,- AND

(2)  EXCUSE A SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT, AT THE DISCRETION
OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, FROM FULFILLING A REQUIREMENT THAT
THE SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT PRACTICE IN THE RECIPIENT'S FIELD IN
CHARLES COUNTY AFTER COMPLETING THE SPECIALIZED TRAINING OR
COURSE OF INSTRUCTION FOR WHICH THE SCHOLARSHIP WAS AWARDED.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

AN ACT concerning

Real Estate Brokers - Referrals

FOR the purpose of prohibiting any real estate broker or real
estate salesperson from soliciting referrals of certain real
estate certain referral business from certain attorneys;
prohibiting real estate brokers or real estate salespersons
from offering to pay or paying a commission to certain
attorneys for the referral of certain real estate; providing
a certain exception to the prohibition; limiting a certain
exemption from a certain criminal penalty; and generally
relating to the referral of real estate to real estate
brokers and real estate salespersons.
