SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

7-204.

(a) Except in the District Court and except as provided in
this section, an attorney-at-law is entitled to demand and
receive the following fees:

(1)  For bringing, prosecuting, or defending any
action at law in a court of original jurisdiction -- $5;

(2)  For prosecuting or defending any action,
including the collection of money due on mortgage, in a court of
equity -- $10;

(3)  For prosecuting or defending a case in the Court
of Appeals -- $10;

(4)  For prosecuting or defending a criminal case if
the punishment for the offense charged is death or confinement in
the penitentiary -- $10;

(5)  In all other criminal cases -- $5.

(R) IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY, THE CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURT
FOR MONTGOMERY COUNTY MAY NOT COLLECT ANY APPEARANCE FEES.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.
