(D) (1) THE TERM OF COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM THE PUBLIC SHALL
BE 2 YEARS.

(2)  AT THE END OF A TERM, THE COUNCIL MEMBERS A
COUNCIL MEMBER FROM THE PUBLIC SHALL CONTINUE TO SERVE UNTIL
SUCCESSORS ARE A SUCCESSOR IS APPOINTED.

(3)  COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM THE PUBLIC MAY SERVE
SUCCESSIVE TERMS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

AN ACT concerning

Children and Youth - Community Grant Program

FOR the purpose of promoting public awareness of the need to
prevent child abuse and to prevent drug and alcohol abuse
among the State's children and youth; authorizing the
Governor to award grants subject to certain procedures,
criteria, and limitations; authorizing an appropriation for
the purposes of this Act; providing for the administration
of the grant program by certain departments in conjunction
with certain selection committees; requiring the Governor to
designate annually certain weeks as Drug and Alcohol Abuse
Prevention Week and Child Abuse Prevention Week; and
generally relating to the establishment of a State grant
program for child abuse prevention and alcohol and drug
abuse prevention.

"Subtitle 11. Community Grant Program"
