AN ACT concerning
Frederick County - Motion Pictures - Sundays
FOR the purpose of repealing certain time restrictions that
regulate the exhibition of motion pictures on Sunday within
the City of Frederick, Frederick County; and repealing the
penalty for a violation of Sunday motion picture time
restrictions.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 27 - Crimes and Punishments
[495.
Nothing contained in §§ 492 or 522 of this article shall be
construed to prohibit or make unlawful the exhibition of motion
pictures within the corporate limits of Frederick City, between
the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and after 8 p.m. on the first
day of the week, commonly called Sunday, whether the same be
exhibited with or without a charge or admission fee; provided,
however, that it shall be unlawful for any person or persons to
exhibit motion pictures within the corporate limits of Frederick
City before 1:30 p.m. or between the hours of 6 p.m. and 8:30
p.m. on Sundays. The work or employment of any operator, ticket
seller, or other employee or attendant, in connection with such
exhibition shall not be unlawful because performed on Sunday
within the corporate limits of Frederick City.]

Any person violating any of the provisions of § 495 shall be
deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall
be subject to a fine of not less than five dollars ($5.00) nor
more than one hundred dollars ($100.00) for each and every such
violation.]
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.
