(II) 1. THE ASSISTANT SHERIFFS SHALL RECEIVE AN
ANNUAL SALARY OF $35,000. EQUIVALENT TO A PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY
GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEE'S SALARY GRADE 40.

2. EXCEPT FOR A REAPPOINTMENT OF AN
ASSISTANT SHERIFF, A NEW APPOINTEE'S ANNUAL STARTING SALARY IS
THE ENTRANCE STEP LEVEL OF SALARY GRADE 40.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salary or compensation
of the Sheriff of Prince George's County in office on the
effective date of this Act, but the provisions of this Act
concerning the salary or compensation of the Sheriff of Prince
George's County shall take effect at the beginning of the next
following term of office.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

Prince George's County - Office of the State's Attorney

FOR the purpose of altering the salaries of the deputy State's
attorneys, the assistant State's attorneys, and the
administrative assistant to the State's Attorney for Prince
George's County; altering the number of assistant State's
attorneys in Prince George's County; and restating a certain
provision of the law.
