DEPARTMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO ANY STAFF OF A BOARD OR COMMISSION,
ESTABLISHED UNDER THIS ARTICLE, OR TO ANY FUNCTIONS THAT PERTAIN
TO LICENSING, DISCIPLINARY, OR ENFORCEMENT AUTHORITY, OR TO ANY
OTHER AUTHORITY SPECIFICALLY DELEGATED BY, LAW TO A BOARD OR
COMMISSION.

SECTION 2 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 1 of
this Act shall take effect July 1, 1985 June 1, 1985. It shall
remain effective for a period of one month and, at the end of
June 30, 1985, and with no further action required by the General
Assembly, Section 1 of this Act shall be abrogated and of no
further force and effect.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 2 of
this Act shall take effect July 1, 1985.

AN ACT concerning

Social Services - Welfare Expenses

FOR the purpose of altering the amount that a local department of
social services may pay for reasonable funeral expenses for
certain recipients of public assistance; and providing that
all cost for funeral expenses for certain public assistance
recipients be charged to State funds.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

The local unit may pay the reasonable funeral expenses, not
to exceed [$400] $900 $650, of recipients of aid to families with
dependent children, general public assistance, public assistance
