AN ACT concerning

Newborn Screening for Sickle Hemoglobin

FOR the purpose of identifying those infants at risk for
homozygous sickle cell anemia or variants of the disorder
for the purpose of reducing morbidity and mortality among
these infants; providing for an education and testing
program; providing for notification; making certain
information confidential; requiring the issuance of an
immunization card; providing for qualified laboratories; and
generally providing for a program relating to sickle cell
anemia and variant diseases.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That Section(s) 18-501 through 18-504 and the subtitle
"Subtitle 5. Prohibited Acts; Penalties", respectively of Article
Health - General of the Annotated Code of Maryland be
renumbered to be Section(s) 18-601 through 18-604 and the
subtitle "Subtitle 6. Prohibited Acts; Penalties", respectively.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:
