AN ACT concerning
Cecil County - Treasurer
FOR the purpose of altering the date on which the term of office
of the Cecil County Treasurer begins and ends; and providing
for the application of this Act.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 8 - Cecil County
1-30.
(a) The legal and qualified voters of Cecil County shall at
the general state election, to be held in the year 1954, and
every four years thereafter, elect some person, a resident of
said county, to be treasurer of Cecil County, whose duty it shall
be to collect and disburse, upon the lawful orders of the county
commissioners of the county, all taxes levied in the county and
for this purpose he is clothed with all the powers possessed by
collectors of taxes under the provisions of the Code of Public
General Laws, and the persons elected to said office under the
provisions of this section shall hold said office for four years
from the first Monday in JANUARY succeeding their election. On
the expiration of the term of the present assistant treasurer,
the Treasurer of Cecil County shall appoint a deputy treasurer,
whose duties shall be such as may be assigned to him by the
treasurer. The treasurer and his successor in office shall
execute to the State of Maryland a corporate surety bond in such
penal sum as the state comptroller may prescribe, with the
condition that if the above bound treasurer shall well and
faithfully execute his office and shall account for to the
comptroller and pay to the treasurer of the state the several
