DULY ORGANIZED AND OPERATING IN THIS STATE, IF THE DESIGNEE IS A
FULL-TIME EMPLOYEE OF THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND PERFORMS FIRE
INSPECTIONS OR FIRE INVESTIGATIONS. THE FIRE MARSHAL MAY
DESIGNATE AS A SPECIAL ASSISTANT STATE FIRE MARSHAL ANY LAW
ENFORCEMENT OFFICER INVOLVED IN ARSON INVESTIGATIONS OR ANY OTHER
SUITABLE PERSONS MEETING THE STANDARDS ESTABLISHED UNDER THIS
ARTICLE. A SPECIAL ASSISTANT SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE STATE
FIRE MARSHAL AND WITHOUT COMPENSATION FROM THE STATE. THE
SPECIAL ASSISTANT SHALL ASSIST THE STATE FIRE MARSHAL IN CARRYING
OUT HIS DUTIES UNDER THIS ARTICLE.

8.

[(i) The State Fire Marshal may deputize a member of any
fire department, duly organized and operating in this State, who
is approved by the chief of his department and who is properly
qualified through a training course as required by the State Fire
Prevention Commission and who has successfully passed an
examination upon the same, or other suitable persons, to act as
his deputies for the purpose of making such inspections and
investigations and carrying out such orders as may be prescribed
by him, to enforce and make effective the provisions of this
article, and of any and all regulations promulgated by the State
Fire Prevention Commission, under authority thereof.]

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section(s) 8(j),
(k), and (1), respectively, of Article 38A - Fires and
Investigations of the Annotated Code of Maryland be renumbered to
be Section(s) 8(i), (j), and (k), respectively.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

AN ACT concerning

Baltimore County - Transfer Tax - Corporate Assets

FOR the purpose of repealing an exception for a certain transfer
tax in Baltimore County in order to require that the
Department of Assessment and Taxation collect the county tax
imposed by Baltimore County on the transfer of certain
corporate assets; making technical changes; providing for
effective dates for the provisions of this Act; and
generally relating to the collection and distribution of the
