SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Tax - Property

(e) The Department shall prepare PRINTED copies of the
assessment books for each year. The copies shall be made
available to the public at a reasonable cost. IF THE DEPARTMENT
APPROVES OF THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE INFORMATION IS REQUESTED,
THE DEPARTMENT MAY MAKE AVAILABLE TO THE PUBLIC, AT A REASONABLE
COST, COPIES OF DATA PROCESSING TAPES OR OTHER MAGNETIC MEDIA
CONTAINING THE RECORD OF THE ASSESSMENT BOOKS.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect October 1, 1985 February 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning
Economic Stabilization---Workplace Closings and Relocations Act
FOR the purpose of establishing the Bureau of Employment
Stabilization to monitor the closing, relocation, and
reduction in operations of certain employers in this State;
providing that the Bureau shall have certain powers and
duties; defining certain terms; providing that certain
employers planning a reduction in operations shall notify
certain persons; specifying certain requirements of the
notice; providing certain exceptions to the requirements off
this Act; providing that certain employers have obligations
and duties to certain employees; providing penalties; and
generally relating to the Bureau of Employment
Stabilization.
FOR the purpose of requiring the Department of Employment and
Training and the Governor's Employment and Training Council
to jointly develop voluntary guidelines for employers for
prenotification and the continuation of benefits in the
event of a reduction in operations; requiring the Department
to provide the guidelines to all employers in the State;
providing that the Department of Employment and Training
shall monitor layoffs in the State in order to offer, in
