FOR the purpose of altering the salary and expense allowance for
judges of the orphans' court for Somerset County; providing
that this Act does not affect the compensation of
incumbents; and generally relating to the compensation of
judges of the orphans' court for Somerset County.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,
Article - Estates and Trusts
Section 2-108(t)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article - Estates and Trusts
2-108.
(t) Each [of the judges] JUDGE of the court for Somerset
County shall receive [the sum of $20 for every day's attendance
upon the sessions of the court] AN ANNUAL SALARY OF $1,600 TO BE
PAID QUARTERLY. Each judge shall also receive an ANNUAL
allowance [of $30 for expenses for every day's attendance upon
the sessions of the court] FOR TRAVELING EXPENSES OF $1,560 TO BE
PAID QUARTERLY.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That, pursuant to
Article III, § 35, of the Constitution of Maryland, this Act may
not be construed to extend or apply to the salaries or
compensation of the judges of the orphans' court for Somerset
County in office on the effective date of this Act, but the
provisions of this Act concerning the salaries or compensation of
the judges of the orphans' court for Somerset County shall take
effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.
