(b) In Baltimore City there shall be 23 resident judges of
the Circuit Court for Baltimore City.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1985.

CHAPTER 22

(Senate Bill 340)

AN ACT concerning

State Employees - Employment

FOR the purpose of repealing the termination date for a certain
program which allows State employees 70 years of age or
older to compete for certain merit system positions and to
apply for continued employment.

BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Article 70B - Office on Aging

Section 4(d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1983 Replacement Volume and 1984 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 70B - Office on Aging

4.

(d) (1) Any person 70 years old or older is eligible for
appointment to any permanent merit system position for which he
qualifies and the appointment is subject to the provisions of
Article 64A.

(2)  Any person who is first appointed to a permanent
merit system position or unclassified position at the age of 70
or older shall not be eligible for membership in the pension
systems of the State.

(3)  If a member who is over 70 years old desires to
continue employment, the member shall apply for continuation on
an annual basis on the form provided by the Secretary of
