(i) Wire rope not less than 5/16th of an inch
in diameter;

(ii) Steel strapping;

(iii) Logistic webbing of synthetic fibers; or

(3) As specified in Part 393.102(b) ([security]
SECUREMENT systems) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Regulations.

26-201.

(a)  A police officer may charge a person with a violation
of any of the following, if the officer has probable cause to
believe that the person has committed or is committing the
violation:

(1)  The Maryland Vehicle Law, including any rule or
regulation adopted under any of its provisions;

(2)  A traffic law or ordinance of any local
authority;

[(3) Article 27, § 231 ("Motor fuels, oils and
lubricants: Prohibited acts") or § 232 ("Motor fuels, oils and
lubricants: Required signs and labels");]

[(4)] (3) Article 56, §§ 135 through 157 ("Motor
vehicle fuel tax"); or

[(5)] (4) Article 81, § 422 ("Road tax on motor
carriers: Trip permits and temporary authorizations") or § 423
("Road tax on motor carriers: Registration").

26-402.

(b)  If a police officer arrests a person and takes him
before a District Court commissioner as provided in this title,
the person shall be released on issuance of a written citation
if:

(1)  A commissioner is not available;

(2)  A judge, clerk, or other public officer,
authorized to accept bail for the court is not available; and

(3)  The person charged gives his written promise to
appear in court [as provided in § 26-205(f) of this title].

26-405.1.

(a) The disposition of a penalty deposit posted under [§
26-204(c)] § 26-204(D) of this title shall be as provided in this
section.
