Annotated Code of Maryland

(1980 Replacement Volume and 1983 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 81 - Revenue and Taxes

9A.

(m) The governing body of any county or Baltimore City is
authorized by ordinance or resolution to change the percentage of
the total assessed value at which any property described in
subsections (c), (d), (e), (i), or (j) of this section is taxed
by reducing the percentage [to zero at any time or over a period
of years]. Whenever such an ordinance or resolution is adopted,
either pursuant to the provisions of this subsection or pursuant
to the provisions of subsections (c)(5), (d)(4), (e)(4), (i)(4),
or (j)(4) of this section, the governing body shall furnish a
copy to the Department.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1984.

Tax Collectors - Bonding

FOR the purpose of simplifying the requirements for bonding of
local tax collectors for the collection of State and local
property taxes; and clarifying who pays the costs of these
bonds.
